I didn’t realize I was burning out until my body forced me to stop
What Changed My Business Wasn’t Doing More It Was Becoming Clearer
For a long time, I thought growth meant adding.
More services.
More posts.
More offers.
More strategies.
More noise.
I really believed that if I just kept stacking one more idea, one more pivot, one more late night, something would finally click. And to be fair, I was not lazy. I was doing a lot. But the results felt inconsistent, scattered, and honestly hard to sustain.
It felt like pushing a heavy door that never fully opened.
What I did not realize at the time is that my problem was not effort.
It was clarity.
The subtle trap is that when you are building something, especially something creative, it is so easy to confuse movement with progress.
You say yes to projects that do not fully fit.
You keep tweaking your messaging.
You try to speak to everyone and somehow end up not really connecting with anyone deeply.
From the outside it looks like momentum, but internally it feels like friction.
And if I am being really honest with you, underneath all of that doing, I was quietly burning out.
Not in a dramatic way where everything falls apart overnight. It was the kind that slowly builds. The kind where you are still showing up, still delivering, still doing “fine,” but something just feels off.
During that time I was also investing in everything. I took courses, joined programs, and hired mentors. And I want to be clear, those things were good. They supported me in a lot of ways.
But at some point I had to face something I did not want to admit.
I did not need to know more.
I needed to stop looking everywhere else for answers.
I needed to come home to myself.
Around that same time my body really started speaking up. I was dealing with constant tension migraines, and they were not something I could just push through. They forced me to slow down whether I liked it or not.
That season became a turning point for me, not just in business but personally.
I started questioning everything I had built my business around. Not because it was not working on paper, but because it did not feel like me anymore.
And that is a hard place to sit in, especially when things look fine from the outside.
But I knew something needed to change.
So I did something that did not feel logical at the time. I let go of a lot of what I was doing. I stopped trying to build on something that did not feel aligned and instead gave myself space to really return to myself.
To slow down enough to actually get to know who I was again without all the noise and input.
And that is where everything shifted.
That is where I found my voice again. My actual voice, not the one shaped by what I thought I should sound like.
I reconnected with what I was passionate about, how I wanted to work, and how I wanted to lead.
From that place, things started to feel clearer, simpler, and stronger.
I was no longer trying to fit into a version of business that did not feel like mine. I was building something that actually reflected me.
And from that, I stepped into a kind of leadership that felt sustainable and real.
Here is the part that still surprises me when I say it out loud.
That season where I slowed down, simplified, and got clear ended up being the highest revenue my business has ever had.
I know. I did not expect that either.
But when I look back, it makes complete sense. When you are clear, everything sharpens. Your message lands. Your offers make sense. Your decisions feel cleaner. Your energy is not scattered.
You are not doing more. You are doing what actually matters.
This is also what I see happen with my clients. They come in thinking they need more ideas or more strategy, but what they really need is clarity.
They need to reconnect with what actually feels aligned so their business can support them instead of draining them.
And when they do that, everything changes. Not just how their brand looks, but how it feels to run it.
If you are in a season where things feel heavy or confusing or just not like you, it might not be a sign to do more.
It might be a sign to pause and get honest with yourself.
To stop searching outward and start listening inward.
Because the clarity you are looking for is not in the next course or the next strategy.
It is in you.
Doing more did not change my business.
Becoming clearer did.
